Q: What is documentary wedding photography?
A: Documentary wedding photography, also known as reportage or photojournalistic wedding photography, captures your wedding day naturally and candidly. The focus is on storytelling rather than staged poses, documenting real moments and emotions as they happen.

Q: How is documentary wedding photography different from traditional styles?
A: Unlike traditional wedding photography, which involves posed portraits and guided moments, documentary photography focuses on authenticity and capturing the day as it unfolds. There’s little interference, resulting in genuine, emotional images.

Q: Does this mean we will have no bride and groom portraits or family group photographs?
A: I know it is important to have family groups, so I am more than happy to put aside a short amount time early in the day (usually soon after the ceremony) for family photographs.
Equally I will schedule time for bride and groom portraits (usually later in the day). This is a fun part of the day and more along the style of “mocumentary”, or semi-posed pictures. I will happily direct the shoot as much or as little as necessary, but I want to allow you to enjoy the quite moment together too!

Q: Are there additional fees for travel?
A: Travel costs will depend on the distance and location. I will travel up to 2 hours at no additional charge. Above this there will be an additional fee - possibly a ‘Purple Palace” for the evening.

Q: Do you photograph elopements or small weddings?
A: Yes! Outside of peak times I love to photograph intimate weddings and elopements. Let me know the details, and I can create a custom package for you.

Q: What happens if it rains or something unexpected occurs?
A: Documentary photography is all about embracing the unexpected! Rain, changes, or surprises often result in some of the most memorable images. I have years of experience and can adapt to any situation.

Q: How long will it take to receive our photos?
A: You can expect to receive your full gallery within 3-4 weeks after the wedding (often sooner)..

Q: Do you work with a second photographer?
A: I largely work solo. Though I do occasionally work with a second photographer if one is requested. There will be an additional cost for this.

Q: Are you insured?
A: Yes, I am fully insured and can provide proof if you/your venue requires it.

Q: How do we book you?
A: Once we have had a chat if you decide that you would like to proceed with a booking, to secure your date I require a signed contract and a non-refundable deposit of £200.

Q: Can we meet before booking?
A: Absolutely! I’d love to schedule a call, to discuss your plans and see if we’re a good fit.
